Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) hascollected more than $18 million financing in a weeklong campaign tosupport the Rohingyarefugees sheltered in Bangladesh.
The nationwide effort carried out in the last week of May amassed the fund from various platforms such as social media and tens of thousands of people andcharities, according to a press release by the UAE Embassy in Dhaka on Monday.
The ERC launched the campaign, supported by all the UAE leaders, under thedirectives of its President Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"In Bangladesh, more than one million Rohingyas are given shelter. We need to benefit them, especially the women and children all. Thistime, our government decided to allow the UAE people participate in helpingRohingya Muslim allies and generate their donations" explained UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Saed Mohammed AL Mheiri.
From the beginning of the Rohingya crisis, UAE has expanded its supports into emergency aid for food, shelter, health to Rohingya children and kids inBangladesh.
"We feel proud that the UAE was the first country which startedhumanitarian attempts in Bangladesh for Rohingya people and completed anumber of jobs for the benefits of children and women in collaborationwith the UNHCR," that the UAE ambassador said.
The UAE is also supplying health services for the Rohingya people in Bangladesh throughout the UAE Bangladesh Volunteer Field Hospital at Cox's Bazaras the first Arab country to conduct a field hospital to get theRohingyas, stated the release.
A Malaysian-Saudi-Emirati field hospital using the UAE given modern gear was also put up in Cox's Bazar in ancient 2018.
The UAE also introduced a project supervised by the ERC and several Emirati donors to dig 100 wells to provide clean water from the Rohingya campsin Cox's Bazar.
Moreover, UAE given $2million to help address malnutrition among young Rohingyasand their moms.
The embassy of UAE at Dhaka is closely tracking all relief activitiesoperated by distinct UAE organizations from the very start of theRohingya crisis, said the release.
